Stephen Falzon is a highly experienced pharmacist and healthcare executive with over thirty years of service in Malta’s public health system. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer at the POYC (Pharmacy of Your Choice) Unit, following a long-standing leadership tenure at Mater Dei Hospital and other national health institutions.
Throughout his career, Stephen has held progressive roles from Quality Control Pharmacist to Head of Pharmacy and Director of Pharmacy managing large multidisciplinary teams and contributing to policy development, regulatory affairs, and pharmacy operations across Malta’s healthcare sector.
He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) from the University of Malta and a Master of Arts in Management (by Research). His Masters research delved into the intricate relationship between decision-making and various stress situations affecting individuals. His academic background is further enriched by post graduate certification in Evidence-Based Management, and various leadership and governance programmes.
Stephen is also a published author in international pharmaceutical and healthcare journals, contributing to research on pharmacotherapy, patient safety, quality assurance, and healthcare decision-making. He is known for his strategic vision, ethical leadership, and dedication to continuous improvement in public health services.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Stephen possesses a keen passion for fine arts, having earned a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Malta School of Art in 2010.
